Assessing Ecological Impacts of Construction Materials in the UK

Obtaining materials for construction has a variety of ecological effects. Due to lack of transparent disclosures, it is currently difficult to determine the entire degree of these affects. A release by the UKGBC incorporates the impact categories biodiversity, climate, land, freshwater, and ocean in accordance with SBTN guidance. To complete the picture, a category reflecting effects on human wellbeing has been included 📊🌿

The impact score can range from 0 (showing no impact) to 4 (representing a very strong impact) for each impact category 📉

The materials that are produced in the UK as well as those that are imported for usage there are taken into account when calculating this score. As a result, the impact score assigned to each material can be viewed as an estimate of the construction industry in the UK.
